BETHEL, Alaska - Rohn Buser, the son of four-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser, has won the Kuskokwim 300 sled dog race.

KYUK (http://bit.ly/zmSoBC ) says the younger Buser crossed the start/finish line in Bethel at 11:42 am Sunday. Rohn's father has twice won the race.

Rohn Buser, of Big Lake, started out in 4th place and moved to the front after the Aniak checkpoint.

Buser completed the race in 41 hours and 12 minutes in the 33rd running of the Kuskokwim 300. That's the 14th fastest running in race history.

Buser says he relied on some veteran dogs to get through tough weather that included wind chills of 50 below.

The runner-up is John Baker of Kotzebue who won the 1,150-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in record time last year.
